NSW:Firies tackle Blue Mountains blaze =2

Supt McGuiggan said about six classrooms had been engulfed in flames but said the blaze
had been contained.

Hazardous material crews were being sent to the school because it is thought the fire
began in a science classroom.

"The messages coming back from the fire ground this morning have been extremely positive,"

he told Macquarie Radio Network.

"What the crews have been able to do is commence what we call a defensive firefighting position.

"That has been successful in the early stages of preventing the fire spreading to other
parts of the building.

"We've seen some really good work done out there by the firefighters this morning."

Some school staff were at the scene, Supt McGuiggan said.
