FED: GST to hit rural Qld says Mackenroth

BRISBANE, Feb 7 AAP - Rural and remote Queenslanders would be big losers under federal tax
reforms because a GST would sharply increase the cost of basic services including water and
sewerage, Queensland's Rural Communities Minister Terry Mackenroth said today.

In a submission on Friday to the Senate Select Committee on tax reform, Queensland said
local government faced a "gloomy scenario, especially those in rural and remote communities".
