NSW: Elderly man may lose eye after stabbing
SYDNEY, Aug 22 AAP - A 22-year-old woman will appear in court today after allegedlystabbing an elderly man with a plastic table leg as he made his bed.
The victim may lose his right eye after the woman entered the 81-year-old man's homein Lithgow in the state's central west around 7pm (AEST) last night, hitting him severaltimes with the table leg, police said.
"At some stage during the attack the plastic leg has shattered leaving a sharp, jaggededge," a police spokesman said.
"It is alleged the woman then stabbed the elderly man, causing a number of lacerationsto his temple area and right eye."
The spokesman said the man stumbled into his neighbour's home to call police afterthe woman stole his wallet and left.
"He was conveyed to Lithgow District Hospital where he was treated for lacerations(and) it is believed the man may lose his eye," the spokesman said.
The woman has been charged with robbery with wounding while armed, robbery with woundingand malicious wounding.
She was due to appear in Lithgow Local Court today.
