Fed: Tuckey calls for inquiry into fire management
CANBERRA, Jan 20 AAP - Federal Minister for Disasters Wilson Tuckey today called foran inquiry into fire fighting strategies and forest management.
Mr Tuckey, who is also Territories Minister, today said he would talk to Prime MinisterJohn Howard about holding an inquiry into the way fires were controlled, along with hazardreduction policies.
"I've argued for a long time ... that more needs to be done in preventing fire," he said.
"We need an inquiry ... (so) it doesn't happen again."
