NSW: Protesters smash through glass doors at Wentworth
Four hotel security guards and two unionists have been injured with protesters crashing
through glass doors and storming Sydney's Wentworth Hotel.
The injured include the Liquor Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union state secretary
ANNIE OWENS.
About 200 unionists protested at the hotel against the sacking by management of 20
workers last week.
The union says the workers were sacked as part of a condition of sale of the 431-room hotel.
After unionists occupied the lobby for half an hour, management agreed to meet a delegation
of union officials and workers, but talks haven't brought any results.
But Mr LAWRENCE says the hotel management has agreed to give a response to the union
by 2pm on Friday.
Wentworth Hotel management has refused to comment throughout the dispute.
